Pending Legislation Aims to Extend California Anti-Deficiency Protection

Housing Tax Credit Closing Extension Helps Some; Others Finding Market Ripe With Good Deals

It's not a lot of time, but a three-month homebuyer limited tax-credit extension will help some. "I think it was one of relief by lots of homebuyers who had loans and real estate transactions in the pipeline and couldn't close by the June 30th deadline. The extension gives them the opportunity to finish up their deals and close by September 30th," says Lucien Salvant, National Association of Realtors spokesperson.

30-Year Fixed Rate Mortgage Drops Slightly to Create Another New Low

Freddie Mac today released the results of its Primary Mortgage Market Survey (PMMS) in which the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 4.57 percent with an average 0.7 point for the week ending July 8, 2010, down from last week when it averaged 4.58 percent. Last year at this time, the 30-year FRM averaged 5.20 percent. This rate is yet another all-time low in Freddie Mac’s 39-year survey.
