WalletConnect is getting even faster

Over the past several months, we have worked closely with our SDK teams to significantly enhance WalletConnect's performance. With the latest AppKit SDK, connection time for our sample wallet on simulated 3G throttled internet has improved from 11 seconds to 7.45 seconds, a roughly 32% increase in perceived performance in our demo environment. On a standard internet connection, the process is even faster, with connection times dropping to just 6.65 seconds.

For native apps the experience is even more seamless, taking advantage of our Link Mode support. With Link Mode, connecting and signing does not require Internet at all and is instant:

In real-world wallets, delays in connections and transaction approvals can be much higher due to the order of the WalletConnect SDK in the wallet’s startup sequence. With the introduction of WalletConnect Certified, wallets will be required to be on latest versions of the SDK and prioritize WalletConnect's performance, ensuring a smoother user experience. We are actively collaborating with apps and wallets to roll out these updates to users as quickly as possible.

There are still many performance improvements ahead, and we plan to implement them in the coming months. We will continue collaborating with apps and wallets to integrate these improvements as they roll out. These updates include architectural upgrades to our Verify and Sign APIs, optimizations to our relay, and improvements to network connection handling. Best of all, these updates won't require any code changes, just a simple SDK upgrade to access the improvements.
