How Reown's AppKit helps DeFi apps unlock smoother UX and Stronger Growth

DeFi is one of the most powerful forces shaping the onchain economy. But despite its promise, one challenge continues to block broader adoption: user experience, specifically user onboarding.

From wallet connection issues to fragmented onboarding flows, many DeFi products still feel clunky or inaccessible. That’s not just frustrating for users, it’s a growth limiter for teams. The Reown team built AppKit to solve exactly that.

Recently, we worked with a group of DeFi partners, WolfSwap, Marinade Finance, and Save Finance, who integrated AppKit to tackle specific UX challenges. Their results point to a broader trend: smoother UX doesn’t just improve onboarding, it compounds and grows everything that follows.

Why DeFi Needs a Better UX Layer

Every DeFi product relies on secure, multichain access. But supporting wallets across networks like Ethereum, Solana, and Bitcoin introduces real technical complexity. And when that complexity shows up in the user journey, long connection flows, missing wallets, broken sign-ins, it causes drop-off.

Marinade Finance had similar friction. Their team spent increasing time managing wallet infrastructure rather than focusing on product innovation.

And Save Finance, an early-stage project, wanted to simplify the entry point for users converting fiat to crypto.

What united these teams wasn’t their stack or their strategy, but their shared pain around UX.

One SDK, All the Wallets: AppKit in Action

AppKit solves this by offering one SDK that powers smooth wallet connections, embedded crypto payments, onramps, and user authentication, all built for multichain apps.

Each team adopted AppKit a bit differently, based on what their users needed most. WolfSwap, for example, integrated AppKit’s multichain wallet connection to support Cronos, Abstract, and Polygon without juggling separate connectors.

Marinade retired their internal wallet infrastructure and now relies on AppKit to handle everything from sign-ins to session persistence.

Save Finance focused on frictionless onboarding. They used AppKit as a log in tool to their product

And as of this year, teams like these are starting to adopt Pay with Exchange, a feature that lets users complete payments directly from accounts like Binance or Coinbase, without switching apps or sharing credentials.

The Outcomes: Better UX, Real Gains

The improvements weren’t just anecdotal.

WolfSwap saw a clear drop in support tickets related to wallet connection issues. With AppKit handling the entire flow, connection, fallback, and session handling, their users now move between chains without needing help. Their team put it simply: “AppKit was a game-changer.”

Marinade Finance shared that operationally, things became easier. “It’s hard to quantify,” they said, “but the reduced maintenance burden has been significant.”

Even Save Finance, whose user base is still growing, pointed to the clean integration and developer experience as key benefits. “The DX is very flushed out and intuitive,” their team noted.

Across the board, these teams reported smoother onboarding, fewer user complaints, and better internal focus.

Why This Matters for DeFi

UX isn’t just cosmetic. In DeFi, it determines whether users engage, or abandon the process entirely. When flows are slow, confusing, or require app-switching, conversion drops. But when users can connect a wallet, make a payment, or swap tokens without friction, they stay.

AppKit makes that simplicity possible. It standardizes the wallet experience, abstracts complexity, and gives teams real analytics to improve over time. For apps that span multiple chains or target retail users, that’s not a nice-to-have, it’s essential infrastructure.
